About Look Deer Sushi

As someone who loves introducing great neighborhood spots, I always get excited talking about Look Deer Sushi, a sushi restaurant tucked away at 1708 East 16th Street in Brooklyn that feels both approachable and quietly impressive. The moment you hear the name Look Deer Sushi, you get the sense that this place doesn’t try too hard to be trendy, yet it still understands exactly what sushi lovers are looking for. It’s the kind of restaurant that works just as well for a relaxed dine-in experience as it does for those days when you want something fresh and satisfying without lingering too long. What really stands out is how flexible the service options are, making it easy to enjoy their food through no-contact delivery, regular delivery, takeaway, or by sitting down and soaking in the calm sushi-focused vibe. The menu leans into balance, offering healthy options that don’t feel boring, quick bites that are perfect when time is tight, and small plates that make sharing feel natural and fun. Because of that variety, Look Deer Sushi appeals to a wide range of people, from sushi newcomers to regulars who already know their favorite rolls by heart. The atmosphere matches the food nicely, staying casual and comfortable rather than formal, which makes it easy to drop by without overthinking the occasion. At the same time, there’s a sense of care in how everything comes together, suggesting that quality matters here even when things move fast. Located right in Brooklyn, NY 11229, it fits naturally into the neighborhood, feeling like a local go-to rather than a one-time destination. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite between errands, ordering something clean and healthy for lunch, or sitting down to enjoy a laid-back sushi meal, Look Deer Sushi manages to stay consistent and welcoming, which is often what keeps people coming back again and again.

Seriously, if you're looking for great sushi, Look Deer Sushi is it! My partner and I went, and it was just amazing. The food was beautifully presented and tasted so fresh and well-made. The service was top-notch too – they really pay attention to their customers. And it's such a nice, calm atmosphere. Loved it!

The small restaurant is located in the Midwood section of Brooklyn. They prepare Japanese cuisine. Soups, salads, appetizers, noodles, entrees, sushi, sashimi, party trays, lunch bento boxes and beverages are available. They have several tables for dining in. I ordered the "D" party tray which consisted of a black dragon roll, two sakura rolls, two California rolls, two eel cucumber rolls and two fried breaded shrimp. The fried purple yam appetizer was different and tasted similar to a sweet potato. The food was very good and fresh. Friendly and helpful staff.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Look Deer Sushi , and it was an exceptional experience. The menu offers an impressive array of sushi options. I ordered the 4 pieces omakase Platter, which featured the freshest cuts of scallop, tuna and sea urchins, each piece melting in my mouth with exquisite flavor. The star of the meal was the OMG Roll – a perfect harmony of tuna, uni, and scallop, all wrapped in perfectly seasoned rice. The balance of flavors and textures was truly delightful. The fried rice was also very delicious. The service was outstanding; the staff were attentive. I can't wait to return and explore more of their delicious offerings!

This is my new favorite spot! Was never a fan of the place before Look Dear Sushi but after reading all the amazing reviews I decided to check it out with my teen who is a very picky eater. The waiter was a saint, attentive, polite, and helpful with suggestions. The atmosphere was so chill and quiet, relaxing, and good vibes. The ramen was out of this world!! The chicken melted in my mouth and was cooked to perfection. The food was so amazing that even my teenager who normally is terrified of sushi was open to trying the shrimp roll and gave me the thumbs up. 10 out of 10. Can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu.

I recently visited Look Deer Sushi in Brooklyn, and it quickly became one of my favorite hidden gems in the borough. This local gem is a true standout, easily beating out many overhyped spots in Manhattan when it comes to both quality and price—think premium, melt-in-your-mouth freshness without the wallet-draining bills. Tucked away on East 16th Street, this spot offers an unpretentious vibe with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients that shine through in every bite. The place is small and cozy, perfect for a quick lunch or casual dinner, and the service was friendly and efficient—our order came out fast without feeling rushed. I went for their sushi deluxe, which included a stunning assortment of nigiri that looked as good as it tasted. The standout was the lineup of four pieces: starting with a tender scallop nigiri drizzled in a rich eel sauce that added just the right sweetness; followed by a seared fatty tuna (otoro) with beautiful grill marks for a smoky depth; then a melt-in-your-mouth salmon topped with fresh green onions and a light glaze; and finishing with a vibrant red tuna accented by pickled radish for a crisp contrast. Each piece was perfectly balanced on vinegared rice, with that ideal fish-to-rice ratio. Paired with the classic pickled ginger and wasabi on the side, it was sushi perfection—fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly affordable for the quality. Don't sleep on their signature rolls either; I tried a combo that mixed classics like spicy tuna with creative twists, all at reasonable prices that won't break the bank. If you're into omakase-style experiences without the Manhattan markup, this is your spot. Overall, 5 stars—I'll be back soon!

The sushi was absolutely amazing! I tried the Black Dragon Roll — crispy shrimp, tender eel, and creamy avocado — and every bite was pure joy. The flavors blended so perfectly that I’ll be dreaming about this roll for a long time! Highly recommend!

Really liked the place, authentic looking. Only a slight lip to get into the place, my sister's powerchair got in no problem. I liked the food, my sister got 18 pieces of sushi rolls when she ordered the "Any 3 rolls $12.50". So each "roll" is six pieces. As of 11/22/2025 the menus in the Google photos still have accurate pricing.
